The deal between you and us.
By browsing or contributing to realbreakfast you agree to these terms. They're short on purpose.
What realbreakfast is
We're a community archive of real hotel-breakfast photos shared by travellers. We are not a hotel, a booking platform, or a review site. We don't sell rooms — we point you to partners like Booking.com when it's useful, and you book with them directly.
When you upload a photo
- It has to be real. A breakfast you actually ate, photographed yourself. No stock images, no marketing shots, no styled food photography.
- You have the right to share it. You took it, or you have clear permission. Don't upload anyone else's work or anything that breaks a law.
- Keep it on-topic. Breakfast and the room it was served in — not people's faces, not unrelated content.
Your promise when you upload
When you submit a photo, you're confirming a few things: that you took it or have permission to share it, that it doesn't break a law or anyone else's rights (copyright, privacy, or anything else), and that the details you attach are honest. If a problem or claim comes out of something you uploaded, that's your responsibility, not ours — we'll take the photo down, and you'll cover any cost that lands on us because of it. It's the trade for letting anyone contribute without an account.
Who owns what you share
You keep ownership of your photos. By uploading, you give realbreakfast a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, resize, and caption them, and to use them to promote the archive — on the site and on our own channels such as Instagram and other social platforms — for as long as the photo stays in the archive. That includes marketing and promotional posts. If you added a first name for credit, we may show it alongside your photo. Ask us to remove a photo and that licence ends for any future use.
One honest caveat: anything we've already posted to a third-party platform like Instagram also lives under that platform's terms, and once it's public there, we can't always claw back copies or reposts. We'll always take it down from our own site and channels on request.
Moderation & removal
We review every submission before it goes live and may decline or remove anything that breaks these rules — to keep stock images and off-topic content out. We aim to review within a day.
Accuracy — the honest caveat
Hotel breakfasts change. A photo shows one plate, on one morning, as one guest saw it — it's a signal, not a guarantee of what you'll be served. Menus, hours, and offerings vary by season, day, and rate. Always confirm details with the hotel before you book for the breakfast.
Liability & third-party links
The site is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses arising from booking decisions made using the archive, or from sites we link to such as Booking.com, which operate under their own terms.
Which law applies
realbreakfast is run from Australia, and these terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If we ever can't sort something out directly, the courts of New South Wales are where it's handled. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be signed away.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date in the sidebar shows when. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
